When the original Obscure hit retail shelves in 2005, it introduced gamers to a fairly new take on the survival-horror subgenre with fully cooperative play. Although the game was met with mixed reviews, the co-op theme certainly warranted praise and was appropriately carried over to the sequel, Obscure: The Aftermath. Aftermath arrived on several consoles early last year and I was fairly pleased with certain parts of the experience. The mix of co-op play and survival-horror was still an enjoyable concept and some of the atmospheric environments were executed wonderfully. The music was the icing on the cake, as the startling beautiful, unmistakably chilling soundtrack seemed almost too good to be true for a "budget level" game.

I grew up in the '80s and owned more than a hundred G.I. Joes. I was obsessed for the better part of my childhood with the action figures. Needless to say, I watched the show as if it held the secrets to the universe. So when G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra feature film was announced, naturally I vomited on myself. Nothing good can come from dredging up '80s nostalgia. What's next, bringing back Molly Ringwald's awkward dance moves from The Breakfast Club? What was worse, I knew that a summer feature meant new toys (that were lesser versions of my '80s collection), some form of fast food joint tie-in, and a new videogame. Cartoon-to-movie translations don't have a great track record for quality, but attempts at cartoon-to-movie-to-game translations fare even worse.

Once October 6 makes its way onto your calendar there will be three basketball games hitting store shelves; two of which are coming to the PSP. There's EA Sports' NBA Live 10 which is also coming to consoles and iPhone, NBA 2K10 which is only on consoles and there's Sony's NBA 10: The Inside coming exclusively to the PSP. It packs some great portable-friendly game modes to go along with the standard stable of features that basketball diehards should enjoy. I recently got my hands on a preview build of the game and got a taste for the many different flavors of basketball found on the UMD.

The first thing that you should know about NBA 10: The Inside on PSP is that there have been no changes to the core gameplay mechanics from last year's version. That means that the shooting meter makes its return, you'll be pulling off special dribbling moves with the square and triangle buttons and icon passing is still assigned to the left trigger. Where you will see some changes is in the modes and features, most of which have been specifically tailored to a portable gaming experience.

After you explain why a thinking machine scares our Terminator-loving generation, drop the news that Naruto Shippuden: Legends: Akatsuki Rising is coming to the portable platform this year.

Namco Bandai announced today that VIZ Media is working on the fighter based on the Naruto Shippuden series, which stars an older, wiser Naruto, and will give players control of 10 ninjas including Akatsuki. Not many specifics were available, but you'll guide these ninjas through the events of the animated series this fall. Naruto and his pals go after the fifth Kazekage, Gaara, and try to keep a demon sealed inside that Kazekage.

Again, all this goodness is coming to your self-aware portable this fall. Until we get more, let the screens below scratch your itch, but be sure you keep checking back to see when we finally get out hands on Naruto Shippuden: Legends: Akatsuki.

The game that started it all on the original PSX/PSOne/PlayStation 1/PlayStation Home Enertainment Systsem is now being remade for the PlayStation Portable. That’s probably the most PlayStation has been used in one sentence on this site. Anyway, Atlus is scheduling the game for a fall release. The first game in the series was considered gold by many. I nearly had a seizure with all those corridors and confusing maps, though. Seriously, if a school had that many confusing hallways no one would ever get to class on time…it would just be a bunch of kids crying in the hallway because they wouldn’t be able to find their way out. Nevertheless, the whole thing is being revamped for the PSP to help gamers experience the original SMT: Persona with greater affability. The game is being localized for an even more immersive experience, and new content is readily being added to further give gamers more interactivity and gameplay. So even long-time fans of the series will have something new to play with Shin Megami Tensei: Persona on the PSP. The game is due out this fall. Chris Roper recently reviewed Need for Speed Shift on the PlayStation 3 and loved it. Of course, no multi-console EA release is complete without a PlayStation Portable version of the title, so Need for Speed Shift is also now available on Sony's handheld. Aside from the name, about the only thing in common between the console and portable games is the fact that they both feature cars.

Don't get me wrong - I didn't come into this looking for a watered-down version of Slightly Mad Studios' driving tour-de-force, but it's definitely worth noting that this isn't a simulation racer in any way, shape or form. Unfortunately, that still doesn't mean it's really all that great...

Ruka has released a new version of NesterJ, the NES emulator for PSP. Ruka is testing out the Wi-Fi battle function in this test release. Your feedback is needed.

About Nester J Wi-Fi Mode

Limitations
The game will stop if too many communication errors are encountered. (This is not a hang-up, but the refresh of the screen is stopped.)
To recover from this problem, just press the Home button to exit.
A patched version will be released when the problem is addressed.

Minor Problems
Sound processing is changed. Some changes in sound are present.
UI of the WiFi Network is not very friendly.
Cannot select player (just thought so, haven't tried)
When WiFi Network Play starts, you will not be able to return to local play. The only way to fix is to exit NesterJ and start again.
Communication timing is not satisfactory yet. (still in adjustment)
You can still use functions that should not be used in WiFi mode, such as State Load and ROM selection.

How to use:
Change the network settings in PSP to AdHoc.
Launch NesterJ and load the ROM you want to play with.
Select Wifi Network Play (Adhoc) from the menu. (Remember to turn on the WLan switch on the left side of the PSP)
Wait a second and you will see a message saying sceNetInit() done. displayed. (From now on this PSP is in standby mode for WiFi play)
Set another PSP into the standby mode, and it will display the MAC address and the ROM image name on the first PSP.
2P Send Connection Request

Press O button to send a connection request.
1P Accept Connection Request

Press O button to accept connection requests from other PSPs.
After a series of communication tests, the emulation will start. (the emulator can hang up during the tests)
* Of course you will need some NES ROMs to run in the emulator. You should also keep all the settings from the 2 PSP consistent to prevent potential hang-ups.

Over 3 months after the original beta release, LightMP3 has gotten a new tuneup, which includes support for 4.01m33, the latest (and best) custom firmware out on the block at the moment.

If you’ve never heard or used LightMP3, consider it. It’s VERY nifty, and a very worthy upgrade over the default "player" built in to the PSP. Heck, it’s an upgrade over any shell’s MP3 players. Full of features, looks, and options, it’s easily one of the most powerful tools for playing MP3s, OGGs, ATRAC3+, and FLAC files. Perhaps best of all is that it uses VERY little power, so this thing will last you on end if you use it for music.

Added: Switched to OSLib MOD, now supports intraFont
Added: New skin system (now all the elements can be moved, see skin.cfg) Font is defined in the skin.cfg file

Here's a new homebrew game you might want to try out. Reizencroft has released his very first PSP homebrew project, dubbed as Tweexter v0.1. Similar to TextTwist, Tweexter is a word puzzle game that lets you arrange words from a set of seven letters. To advance a level, all you have to do is find out what the seven letter word is. This release of Tweexter includes the source code used to make the game, so budding homebrewers out there can learn a thing or two about making their own Tweexter-type homebrew. It seems that every single day a new development from homebrew developers is released for Sony's PSP Console. And the last few days have been no exception to that rule. From the good guys over at PS2Nfo, we've learned that a GBA Emulator has been release for the PSP. Now hardcore gamers can start playing their GBA Games right on their PSP Console. While this GBA Roms emulator is by no way a completed final release, it already sports many of the features that it's popular PC counterparts have to offer.

Although the ReadMe states there is no sound implementation yet it appears there is (pushing Left/Right on the Analogue Stick seems to toggle the sound ON and OFF). Some new changes also include supporting one game at a time (it must be renamed to ROM . gba without the spaces of course!), the directory must be named VBAPSP, and one SAVE at a time total per game is now featured. However, if you wish to save on another game you must remove the old save to do so. Similarly, pushing Up/Down on the Analogue Stick may change the clock speed... as it changes the background from Black (222mhz), to Blue (266mhz?), to Red (333mhz?) and provides a noticeable speed difference on the Red background. Lastly, pressing Triangle/Square increase and decrease frame skipping it appears... some nice 'undocumented' features indeed!

Currently it plays very slowly and has no sound, but the Japanese author states improved versions are coming soon. Also, it appears that ROMs larger than 16MB aren't working yet.

In other PSP GBA Emulator news, according to PS2NFO.com psp298 has released a new GBA (Game Boy Advance) emulator for the PSP, namely PSPGBA v1.0. Currently it includes a GUI for game management (like RIN) and is optimized for speed, however, it's currently not 100% as fast as GBA but many games are definitely playable so enjoy!

As a devoted fan of the Tony Hawk franchise since the very beginning of the series when it was called Tony Hawk Pro Skater, I’ve seen the game evolve from a simple-yet-fun series to a thrasher’s dream come true with the Tony Hawk Underground games. Even Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland had something interesting to offer, although it wasn’t as fun as past games in the series. Just like a good skating competition, fans stay for the fresh new tricks but unfortunately fresh new tricks can’t be found in Tony Hawk’s Project 8 for the PSP … one of the weakest entries in the franchise.

The game’s Career Mode begins with you picking from three skaters, each has his own style of skating whether it’s the punk or the kid or the street skater. You start the game in the Suburbs and work your way through a number of levels that take you to different locales. Of course, you’re still free to explore your surroundings but in order to advance you have to talk to people on the street to complete a list of challenges. The game brilliantly sets up three difficulty setting for each challenge, allowing you to take on the amateur or pro setting. Top Boston Rebels football star, Quarterback Joe Kingman, has an unknown 8-year old daughter from a former marriage show up on his doorstep. This precocious youth, Madison Pettis, transforms his life from a egotistical, promiscuous bachelor to a loving father. Instead of decreasing his popularity, his daughter makes the athlete even more popular among fans and teammates. Joe Kingman admires Elvis Presley (The King) and fills his life with Elvis memorabilia and actions. Little Madison steers her Dad away from his exotic, blonde Russian girlfriend, Tatianna, towards her wholesome ballet teacher, Monique Vasquez. A turn of events ends with a happy ending for both the football and romance sides of this Disney family big-budget film.

Joe Kingman was living the average life of a star football player until 8 year old Payton Kelly shows up at his door insisting that she is his daughter. After some remembering he realizes this could easily be possible and accepts the challange of taking care of her while her mom is away.At first it does not go so well. Finally Joe Gives in to Payton and signs her up for a ballet program where they meet Monique who helps Joe to figure out how to take care of Payton. When Joe and Payton get in a fight and Payton accidentally eats her allergen, Joe realizes he needs to get her to the hospital quickly. When they find out she is ok Payton's mother's sister shows up, who Payton had said was dead, and tells Joe that Payton was not supposed to be there and her mother had died. She takes Payton back right before Joe's championship game and he gets injured. When he is resting in the locker room Payton shows up and tells him she missed him and her aunt decides she should stay with Joe. Joe returns to the game and they win. this is not everything but it is a pretty detailed review correct any mistakes.

One Thursday evening, their disagreements reach a fever pitch - Anna is incensed that her mother doesn't support her musical aspirations and Tess, a widow about to remarry, can't see why Anna won't give her fiancé a break. Everything soon changes when two identical Chinese fortune cookies cause a little mystic mayhem. The next morning, their Friday gets freaky when Tess and Anna find themselves inside the wrong bodies. As they literally walk a mile in each other's shoes, they gain a little newfound respect for the other's point of view. But with Tess's wedding coming on Saturday, the two have to find a way to switch back - and fast.

Two black FBI agents, Kevin and Marcus (Shawn and Marlon Wayans), have gone undercover to bust a drug dealer, but their sting falls apart. Their boss gives them a new assignment to escort two hotel heiresses, Brittany and Tiffany Wilson, to the Hamptons. The FBI has received word that there is a plot to kidnap the sisters at the Hamptons. As they are driving from the airport to the Hamptons, the girl's little dog goes out the window, and causes them to have a wreck. The two girls end up with cuts on their faces in the wreck. Brittany and Tiffany take a stand, and refuse to go to the Hamptons looking like this. If they don't go, the kidnapping plot will not occur. Kevin and Marcus will fail again, and probably lose their jobs. They decide to disguise themselves as the Wilson sisters and catch the kidnappers.

Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) along with other band members Nate (Nick Jonas) and Jason (Kevin Jonas) arrive at Camp Rock to make Shane go to the camp and make himself behave, as Shane is a real jerk. At camp, Mitchie meets Caitlyn (Alyson Stoner), who she later befriends. She also meets 'camp diva' Tess Tyler (Meaghan Jette Martin), Peggy (Jasmine Richards) and Ella (Anna Maria Perez de Tagle). Mitchie is caught up in the world of Tess and her drama. During the film, Mitchie started to become a friend to Shane. tess gets jealous of this friendship and keeps trying to break it up. Shane, while being stalked by fans, falls outside a room where Mitchie is practising a song. Mitchie doesn't know he's there and he doesn't know who is singing but loves it. Tess makes sure that Mitchie doesn't perform her song to Shane and others at the 'Final Jam', as they are a double act. They manage to anyway and then Shane find out that he was trying to find Mitchie all along. The kinda fall for each other but don't kiss.

Great Teacher Onizuka is the story of Eikichi Onizuka, an unorthodox high school teacher whose decidedly unusual teaching methods make him a hero to the kids, but a menace to the establishment. Conceived as a Japanese manga by Toru Fujisawa, the saga of Great Teacher Onizuka achieved phenomenal success in Japan, spawning an animated television series, a twelve-episode TV drama, and a TV special. Finally, in late 1999, the braintrust of Fuji TV brought us GTO: The Movie, which is what this review happens to be about.
Unlike the usual GTO storylines, the film takes place as far away from the big city as possible. The setting is the rural town of Horobonai, which is located on Japan's northern-most island of Hokkaido. The local high school has a trouble class, which is mostly due to the presence of Ayano Katsuragi (Rena Tanaka), the local ice princess, whose dad ran a theme park called "Canada Land." Unfortunately, said park went bankrupt and the town is now experiencing a depression, of both the economic and emotional variety. The kids (including Ayano) frequently threaten suicide, and the teachers are your usual motley band of useless types.

Marvel Super Heroes is a fighting game developed by Capcom. Originally released in the arcade in 1995 on the CPS-2 arcade system, it was later ported to the Sega Saturn and PlayStation. It features many superheroes and supervillains from the Marvel Comics line, including Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, and the Hulk.

The game is loosely based on the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, with the heroes and villains battling each other for the Infinity Gems. The final boss is Thanos, who steals whatever Gems the player had collected (at that point, all but the sixth gem, Mind) and uses them against the player, but with each gem having a strange, new effect when used by Thanos.

The game played similar to Capcom's previous Marvel-licensed fighting game, X-Men: Children of the Atom, but with a more simplified use of the super combo gauge, and the addition of the Infinity Gems. Each Gem could be activated in battle, giving the user a different power for a few seconds. In addition, each character had a Gem that they had a special affinity for, and would get additional abilities whenever they activated it.

On other hand, I got this arcade game from another site and downloaded it and decided to post it on my own for the sake of those PSP lovers out there! Yeah! You heard me right fellas, Marvel Super Heroes is now on PSP! :D Download it now!!!

I should say that this game really hooked me up during my PS2 days, with a lot of additional game levels and goals to complete with! (isn't that fantastic?) Game Summary
The game is a departure from the previous three games' Career mode, in which the player had a set amount of time in order to find and complete goals. THPS4 instead featured a Career mode more similar to Free-skate mode, in which there was no time limit to explore the level, the goals are usually offered to the player to attempt by characters found in the level. This Career mode would be later seen as the Story modes of Tony Hawk's Underground series, American Wasteland, Project 8 and Proving Ground.

Chuck finds himself unable to tell women he loves them. This leads to an eventual breakup, but soon leads to his ex-girlfriend getting married. At one such wedding, Chuck becomes enamored with Cam Wexler (Jessica Alba), a sometimes clumsy girl who nevertheless appears quite friendly. Chuck tries to ask Cam out on a date, but she gently refuses him.

The weeping and moping starts again, until Peter is rescued by Rachel, a thoughtful hotel clerk who invites him to a luau and to hang out. Although he constantly runs into Sarah and Aldous, Peter starts to come alive again. Will Sarah realize what she's lost, and what about Rachel?

When Sarah Marshall dumps aspiring musician Peter Bretter for rock star Aldous Snow, Peter's world comes crashing down. His best friend suggests that Peter should get away from everything and to fly off to Hawaii to escape all his problems. Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny is a fighting game in the Soul series for PlayStation Portable. It was announced by Namco Bandai on April 28, 2009. It plans to use a lot of the features of Soulcalibur IV, including its character customization mode. One of the goals of the game is "to target beginners and novice players with SC IV's content". The game is known to introduce at least two new characters to the series, including Kratos from the God of War series, and Dampierre, a new original character.

Update is removed and is modified to run on 5.00M33-6 and 5.50 gen-B CFWs'. Enjoy!

Japanese developer Minerva has released an update to his PSP-compatible ad-hoc file transferring utility, which enables the transferring of files and folders locally between a maximum of six PSP units.

With the release of version 0.7, it is now possible to transfer files directly through the PSP’s native Game Sharing feature to other handheld units that are not running the application. Additionally, various optimizations have made in regards to the network code. As a result, the author notes that users should notice slightly faster transfer rates when moving large files across PSP to PSP.

Story of the Year Live In The Lou

Story of the Year (also known as Story or SOTY) is an American post-hardcore band formed in St. Louis, Missouri in 1995. The band was initially named 67 North then changed it to Big Blue Monkey, they changed their name to Story of the Year in 2002 after the release of their EP titled Story of the Year on the indie label Criterion Records when they realized a blues group of the same name had already existed.

It would not be until eight years after forming that Story of the Year saw its first piece of commercial success in its major label debut, Page Avenue, containing the popular singles "Until the Day I Die" and "Anthem of Our Dying Day". A second album, In the Wake of Determination, followed in 2005, but did not achieve the success of its predecessor. The band released their third album, The Black Swan, on April 22, 2008, which was their first release on Epitaph Records. As of May 2009, Story of the Year has begun writing new material for their next album.

Saosin is a post-hardcore band originally hailing from Newport Beach, California, formed in 2003. The band currently consists of vocalist Cove Reber, guitarists Beau Burchell and Justin Shekoski, bassist Chris Sorenson, and drummer Alex Rodriguez.

Origin Of Name

Anthony Green, the former vocalist, had initially suggested the name "Saosin" (pronounced as "say-o-shin") for the band. After he quit, Saosin changed the pronunciation to "say-o-sin" and what it actually means (Saosin means “small heart” as well as "be careful" in Chinese (xiao xin). Both pronunciations of the word are actually incorrect, and it is actually pronounced "shiao sheen". The word comes from a 15th century proverb about fathers telling their sons who are being married off for money not to get emotionally involved with their wives, (who could die at any time.) Green explained the meaning behind this as being a reference to the fact that nothing is eternal, and that it is a mistake to become overly attached to any one thing, because that thing will eventually be lost.[3] Whilst Green's interpretation of the word xiao xin is obscure, xiao xin is generally used in Chinese as a means to express caution. Green had previously used Saosin as a track name in his high school band, Audience of One's CD, I Remember When This All Meant Something.
